Casey and Nick did not merely have a wedding and reception, they threw a PARTY – this wedding was non-stop energy from beginning to end; even the cat had on a bow tie, which was SO adorable! There were so many great moments during the celebration; however, one of my favorite moments was during the best man’s speech, when he had everyone pause to remember that not only was it Casey and Nick’s wedding day, but it was also Veteran’s Day and to have a moment of silence in honor of those who have and are serving, which hit close to home for many there, as both Nick and his brother serve in the military. I hope that my photographs capture the energy and excitement of the day for Nick’s brother who couldn’t be there and just wish to express my gratitude to those who serve and to the families who sacrifice to make this country the great nation that it is, where we can celebrate in freedom not only the biggest and best moments of our lives, but the every day, little details that make us smile.

When Spencer and Lindsay asked me to photograph their wedding, I was so excited. Not only was I certain that their wedding would be at a very unique venue and that they would be open to my crazy ideas; I have known Spencer since pre-calc junior year of high school! There are so many memories from high school and college that Spencer is a part of (he is after-all one of the guys who introduced me to Adam) and it has been so nice to get to know Lindsay throughout the wedding festivities. I have always loved photographing friends – it is almost like going backstage after a concert: you get to be a part of the nervousness and the excitement; and I was so honored that we could be a part of Spencer and Lindsay’s wedding day and create another memory with all of us together.

At 5Fourteen Photography, nothing is more exciting than photographing the wedding of a friend we’ve known forever! We first met Christine when she and our very own Alaina were competing on different school teams at diving competitions. Although we’re not always extremely likely to strike up a conversation with perfect strangers (because we’re actually quite shy believe it or not), we absolutely HAD to introduce ourselves, because at the time, both Alaina and Christine had the same bleach blonde hair cut and were virtually indistinguishable from the bleachers (aside from the different colored bathing suites!). Well, needless to say, they’ve been friends for a long time and it has been so much fun to participate in the wedding – Alaina as a member of the bridal party, and me behind the camera. And the fact that this crazy wedding had costumes galore and decorations everywhere, made it a detail photos dream come true!

Congratulations Sonya & John!
There is nothing the we at 5Fourteen Photography love more than sunshine and being outdoors, so we were beyond excited that Sonya and John were getting married in the outdoor chapel at Crystal Gardens Livingston. The sun was a gorgeous golden glow streaming through the tall arches of the chapel with the delicate late summer breeze whispering through the curtains, making the event feel very magical, as though suddenly, we were on a Greek Island or on the coast of Italy.

At 5Fourteen Photography, we love photographing new friends. We met Bailey’s Dad at church: he works on the production crew and I always run around taking photos, painting, carving sculptures; so I guess it was evident that I am creative. One day, he asked me if I photograph high school seniors, which of course, is something that I love to do, so I was excited to schedule a session with them at the beautiful Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor. Well, the day of our original session, buckets and buckets of rain were pouring down, so we had to reschedule, but I am so glad that we did, because the weather was perfect and eventhough we took the wrong path, we had a great adventure discovering all of the nooks and crannies this huge park has to offer, as well as a quidditch game, complete with brooms and of course maize and blue tee shirts!

So, if you follow 5Fourteen Photography’s work, you may have noticed that rings are my FAVORITE wedding detail to photograph. We always photograph the rings at the reception, as it is our goal to produce truly unique images specific to each couple.
Here is a little sneak peak from the wedding yesterday and if you need more photos to hold you over, check out Christine and Joe’s engagement session!

I cannot wait to see more!!!!!!
We first met Tali during our friend Lakin’s Senior Session; we were so honored that she had such a great time and decided to book her senior portraits with us as well! Tali is a little sassy, a little sweet, a little vintage, and a little rock and roll – what a great combination. Despite the bugs, the session was perfect in every way – beautiful people, amazing sunlight, flowers everywhere, and we were even able to help the Bonsai Club carry the crazy little trees from their cars as they set-up for a show the next day.

Location: Matthaei Botanical Gardens.

How cool! A lot of pretty pics, a lot of fun ones– but the heartfelt ones are my favorites though (you know the ones, the ones that bring tears to your eyes).
